While the heat increases as summer moves forward, The Oklahoma Academy is heating up with several things! The 25th Annual Salute will be held in mid-August and tickets are selling fast, we are taking nomination applications for the 2018 Town Hall addressing the state’s tax code, we have two new staff members who are dynamite, and we are holding Listening Sessions for the Town Hall now through Aug. 14! Read on below for more information and check our calendar page for upcoming events!
Oklahoma Academy Salute: Individual and couples tickets for the annual Oklahoma Academy Salute are on sale and can be purchased online or by emailing email@example.com. In honor of the Academy’s 25th Salute, KFOR’s Kevin Ogle will be the evening’s Master of Ceremonies, along with V. Burns Hargis and Mike Turpen, the original Salute emcees and the original stars of KFOR-TV’s “Flash Point,” who will be sure to make the evening an event to remember. Of course, the Capitol Steps are returning with their hilarious political parodies to entertain the audience. We sincerely hope you will join us for this quarter of a century celebration. If you’re unable to attend the event, consider making a donation to support the Oklahoma Academy. The Salute is our only fundraiser and the money raised will support our programs and operations for the year to come.
2018 Town Hall: We are accepting nomination forms for the 2018 Town Hall entitled “Aligning Oklahoma’s Tax Code to Our 21st Century.” The Town Hall takes place Nov. 11-14, at the River Spirit Conference Center in Tulsa. This Town Hall will address a number of issues such as: where our tax collections come from, how sufficient/insufficient those sources are in meeting our needs, why changes need to be made to both tax source coverage and rates, how restructuring the tax code might help stabilize our resources. You can read a full description of the Town Hall here. Click below to download a nomination form. Please return your completed nomination form to the Oklahoma Academy by July 25.
